Winston Churchill said it best, “Never, never, never, never give up!” This can be applied to quick weight loss as well. Persistence is often overlooked in the world of weight loss because many people focus on what they do at the gym as the key yo weight loss.
This is where the problem lies and why there are so many overweight people at the gym. Losing weight is not so much about what you do at the gym as it is about the persistence that you put into the weight loss when you are not at the gym.
Doing a little bit every day will get you a whole lot farther than doing a lot once or twice a week. Eating at a deficit can be a challenge but the persistence pays off when you achieve the body you have been working for.
The key is to breaking your goals down into small workable segments instead of looking at them as huge insurmountable goals. If your goal is to progress a small amount on with each workout you will eventually reach your strength goals. If you go to the gym and load the bar down with your goal weight, you will probably get hurt.
Being persistent is also about setting strategies in place that will allow you to rely less on your will power, which we all know can fail you, and more on the system. This means making lifestyle changes that make fitness easy.
Let me make another point about weight loss. And, that is that weight loss beyond a certain point is not natural. Evolutionarily we are built to hold onto a little extra weight, so dropping weight down past the 10% range can be quite a challenge simply because our body is scarred that there will be a famine and it won’t have any fuel reserves.
So, beating evolution is a tough game and the only way to do it is to be a little smarter than your body and be a whole lot more persistent. It can be easy to quickly drop weight down to certain point but after you reach your threshold your body kicks in with its evolutionary mechanisms.
So, settle in for a battle and remember that a little bit of persistence every day is what will pay off in your quest for long term weight loss as well as quick weight loss.
