Chin Augmentation Prices

Beauty is about symmetry and while certain physical quirks are considered an asset, there are certain things that need a professional’s touch to bring out its aesthetic potential. One of the best ways to create symmetry in the face is to enhance the lower third of the face through a procedure called chin augmentation. It is a fairly common procedure that lasts only an hour on average and is uncomplicated enough to allow a patient to go home after the operation. For potential patients who are concerned about cost, it is a good idea to be familiar with chin augmentation prices in order to be prepared for the procedure itself.

What to expect

Chin augmentation prices differ depending on several factors. It is important to keep these factors in mind when weighing options offered by different professionals. These factors include:

Cost of the implant

In general, there are two types of implants that are used in chin augmentation – silicon and GORE-TEX. Silicon tends to be cheaper than GORE-TEX, so expect fees to range from a low of $250 to about $5,500 for the implants alone.

There are also cheaper alternatives, such as injectables which can cost from $500 to $2,500. Some patients can also opt to have fat grafting instead, the cost of which can range from $500 to $3,000.

Surgeon’s fees

Some surgeons may include their fees in the total quote for chin augmentation prices while others do not, so it pays to ask. Surgeon’s fees also vary depending on the expertise and experience of the doctor and the location or region where they practice.

Facilities

Chin augmentation procedures are performed in an operating room, the use of which patients have to pay for. The cost will vary depending on the hospital facility and the time of the surgery. Patients, however, can expect to pay from about $650 to $1,850.

The cost of hospital stay should also be considered as part of the expense for the procedure in case the patient wishes to be confined after the surgery. This will increase the cost by about $600 to about $1,800 depending on the facility and use of equipment.

Anesthesia

Most patients will have the option to choose between general anesthesia or sedation with local anesthesia for the procedure. This increases the cost of the surgery from $350 to about $800.

Lab fees

Chin augmentation prices often do not include the cost of laboratory fees such as blood tests, physical exams, AIDS/HIV tests and X-rays. The cost will range from $35 to $75, depending on the type of tests that will be required.

Medication

Post-op medications will be prescribed to help alleviate pain, minimize swelling and prevent infection. Patients who will be undergoing the surgery should also be prepared for this expense.

Location

Where the surgery will be performed and where the surgeon practices will affect chin augmentation prices.

Is chin augmentation covered by insurance?
Chin augmentation prices would be greatly reduced if insurance coverage is available but in most cases, insurance companies will not pay for the procedure particularly if it is performed for cosmetic enhancement. However, insurance will shoulder part of the cost if the surgery will be performed as a restorative procedure to improve health or correct a deformity as a result of a birth defect or accident.
